Countless families in Austria often struggle to meet their basic needs, which has been exacerbated by the rising energy costs of recent years. Due to a financial bottleneck, in addition to hygiene articles such as toilet paper, there is a shortage of food for daily supplies.
In religious education, we have gained a deeper insight into the fields of activity of Caritas through our project work, including the enormous extent of people's need for help. For this reason, I, Conrad Gollwitzer, organized a fundraising campaign on behalf of our class together with our religion teacher Stefan Höck. Our plan was to put together packages with (basic) food and hygiene items.
Since Caritas is an integral part of the Catholic Church and the Christian community, we finally decided to give our classmates in other classes the opportunity to participate in our fundraising campaign. Our goal was to set an example together, especially before Christmas, to give hope to people in need.
We would like to thank all class teachers who supported the project with their classes to carry out this unique fundraising campaign at the International School Kufstein across classes.
When the first boxes and bags arrived on December 16, 2024, we began to be amazed at what we had initiated with our project idea. The pictures accompanying this report only show individual classmates, but we would like to express our gratitude to everyone who participated and their parents for their support. By the last day of submission, December 18, 2024, more donations had arrived than we could have imagined.
After several weeks of planning and implementation, we were very pleased to hand over the collected donations to Mrs. Andrea Klapper from Caritas in Wörgl on December 18, 2024, on behalf of Mr. Stefan Höck. As Mrs. Klapper told us, she, like us, had no idea how many people we would help through the project.
The great success has encouraged us to support further projects in the coming years to set an example and actively live Christian values such as charity.
We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy Year 2025 from the bottom of our hearts.
