ISK Tirol officially authorized as an IB World School with the Middle Years Programm (MYP)

Recognition of quality in international education

The International School Kufstein (ISK) Tirol has reached another important milestone in its successful development. At the beginning of June, it was officially authorized as an IB World School with the Middle Years Programme (MYP).

ISK Tirol has been an IB World School for the Diploma Programme (upper school) since April 2017. With the additional accreditation for the lower school level, the school now offers a model of education for students aged 10/11 – 18/19 that meets the highest international standards and is unique in Austria. The award further boosts the ISK’s growing international reputation for excellence and quality.

In the more than 5,000 IB World Schools around the world, young people learn to be open-minded, caring, inquiring and reflective, with a focus on communication and personal skills. The MYP focusses on the development of competencies which since this year have also been central to the new Austrian curriculum. The ISK is therefore setting the trend in Tirol and Austria with its progressive, holistic approach to education and English as the language of classroom instruction.

With the two certificates offered by the ISK (the IB Diploma and the Austrian Matura), pupils are ideally equipped for their future and are qualified to study across Austria and in the most renowned colleges and universities around the world.

“This news is great success for the entire school community and shows that ISK Tirol is on the right track with its international focus and high-quality education. Our 50:50 mix of Austrian and international teachers gives our pupils a unique school experience, with personal development at its heart,“ says Ian Barnes, Head of School (pictured right). „The great demand for places in the ISK shows how much families value the IB philosophy and approach to teaching and learning within the Austrian curriculum.”

“With our school profile, we are attractive for students from Tirol as well as for international families. In the coming school year, we will have around 335 pupils in 16 classes in our school campus in the centre of Kufstein,” adds Managing Director Walter Weiskopf.
